Growing up my brothers & I witnessed my Granny Rosa lead the charge as a pillar in her community. She considered everyone as "kinfolk" and was always willing to help those that were in need, whether it was by lending an ear or by providing a meal.
Her mantra was "no kid should go without." Her words resonates deeply to our core values here at Rosa's Chicken & Waffles. Our commitment is to the children of the communities in which we serve. We know that we can provide quality & affordable food to the community and canceling the worry of feeding a child, by making sure children eat free everyday!
Some may see this as far fetched. However, it is very possible because our Granny Rosa has done the same thing with much less. We remember her giving us her food stamp booklet, going to the grocery store, and coming back to see her feed everyone in the community that needed a meal, especially children. Her commitment to feeding the community and her love for children, led to establishing what is known now as "Rosa's Chicken & Waffles" where we recognize everyone as "kinfolk."
Reginald McCutchen, also known as "Lil G" to his family and friends is from Stone Mountain, GA where he graduated from Stephenson High School. After graduation, he attended The University of Florida on a track scholarship. However, he concluded his undergraduate studies at Georgia Southern University where he was a standout football player and received his Bachelors in Finance with an emphasis in Risk Management and Insurance. He feels that it is his responsibility as a black man, an educator, a father and a son to stand behind his Granny's mantra that "No kid should go without". With the establishment of his restaurant, Reginald knows that his Granny would be very proud of him for carrying on her legacy and making it bigger than she could have ever imagined.
